Weekend Notes on Globalization

This weekedn i started to read two books:

  • Information Revultion in Developing Countries
  • Wikinomics

Since I had to study and work on a project, i haven’t finished, but here is what i’ve learned from these books until this poin:

The first one is the best definition of Globalization I’ve got:

Globalization is the increase of both resources and their quality any given person has at reach.

Pretty cool hugh ? it stays away from all the techy and economic jargon.

Second of all was the paradigm of collaboration

If i were to ask my teachers or fathers whats collaboration, they will probably think of a group of people sitting a meeting room discussing several points in which they have to agree.

For new knowledge base societies, collaboration means, people being online from all over the world working in different parts of a same problem.

It seems so important when considering being on-line and what worries me is that most of people in Mexico don’t know how to use a computer, let alone use the internet.

Collaboration in Information Age, for Mexico, means writing Microsoft Word documents and sending them by email.

I hope, we can change that with Open Education in the very near future.
