Mexico: One computer per gun
I just read at This Wacky World
(Este Mundo Loco) that Mexico City will be giving away computers for each gun they bring in to the Ministry of Public Security. Such program is enabled by the cooperation of Secretary of Public Security of the City, Ministry of Defense and the one and only….(drums rolling) Microsoft !!!
Say what ? well yes it seems that gates doesn’t come to mexico only for business, when he came last week with Mayor Marcelo Ebrad, he didn’t came only to assure his company keep those juicy government contracts, but to give back to mexican community.
Microsoft will provide the software such as Windows, Office and Encarta, as long as the gun is a .9mm or higher, if it happened to be smaller, don’t worry you can still get some benefit from you killing machine by recieving MX$2,500.00 in cash and MX$500.00 value in food.
“Esta acción tiene como objetivo abatir la violencia y el uso de armas de fuego en las calles de la capital del paÃs”, explicó en un comunicado la secretarÃa de Seguridad Pública.
“We pretend to fight violence and use of guns in the streets of Mexico City”, explained the Secretary of Public Security
They also annonced it is a series of programes to transorm the Secretary in a more preventing organization rather than a reactive one.
